Cost of living support

I am...

A coat rack of kindness

Coat racks have been put up in West Northamptonshire Council buildings to support anyone who may be struggling this winter and would benefit from a coat donation. If you are in need of a coat, please visit One Angel Square, Northampton where you can help yourself to a coat from the coat rack available in the Reception area.

Donate your unwanted coats and help keep vulnerable people warm this wintertime

With the cost-of-living-crisis and surging energy bills affecting many households this winter, a coat donation could help someone facing uncertainty stay warm in the colder months.

As part of our efforts to support those affected by the rising cost of living, we have set up a coat donation rack at the One Stop Shop at The Guildhall, Northampton where you can drop off any unwanted winter coats.

From puffer to parka, duffle to down, every donation helps, so get sorting through your wardrobes and bring in your old coats. Any size, style or colour of men’s, women’s and children’s coats will be greatly appreciated, but please only donate clean items that are in good condition.

We lend out packs of reusable cloth nappies for parents and parents to be. The nappies are new-born size suitable for a baby weighing between 5 and 13lbs.

The loan period is for a maximum of 6 weeks to help families decide if they want to use real nappies going forward. Each kit we provide has a selection of different nappies for you to try. Find out more at Strong Start - Real nappies loan scheme.

Cost of living scams

Please be cautious of possible scams including fake text messages and emails relating to cost of living and energy.

The government is offering help for households but beware of criminals pretending to offer these support schemes.

These scam emails and text messages come in many different forms and promise financial gain. They are often official looking and pretend to be from the government or HMRC. For more information please visit cost of living scams.
