Digital payment reminders

SMS (text message) payment reminders

From January 2025, West Northamptonshire Council will send SMS (text message) reminders to help people pay their overdue Council Tax, housing benefit overpayments, business rates, and other council charges.

We are making changes to help you manage your payments more easily.

Here is what to expect:

  • we will send you reminders and updates about overdue payments by text message. This makes it quicker and simpler to stay on top of what you owe
  • the messages will be clear and interactive, giving you helpful options to sort out payments or contact us if you need help
  • we will add secure features using Open Banking. This will let you make safe payments directly through the service

These updates aim to save you time and make paying straightforward.

Security

We want to keep your information safe. All messages from us will be secure, and we will never ask for information such as passwords or bank details.

We may ask you to enter your postcode to confirm it is your account – but do not share any other personal details.

If you are not sure if a message is from us, you contact our customer service team at 0300 126 7000 (option 3).
