Child Development Centre - NGH

The Child Development Centre (CDC) is a specialist pre-school service responsible for the assessment of neurodevelopmental conditions such as autism spectrum disorder (ASD). It also supports the assessment of children with other complex developmental needs in West Northants.

The assessment will identify any areas of difficulty and following the assessment, appropriate referrals for support from other agencies will be made. While a reason (diagnosis) for your child’s difficulties may be agreed upon, this is not always the case, however the absence of a diagnosis will not prevent the appropriate referrals being made.

Referrals to the CDC are made via a community paediatrician. An initial referral to that service can be made via the children & young people's referral management centre.

The Child Development Centre is located on the 2nd floor above the eye department, Area L at Northampton General Hospital.
