Description

These are schools outside of Northamptonshire that are named in EHC Plans for West Northants Council pupils. 

Some of them are mainstream schools in adjacent counties, as this is more convenient for travel for the young people and their families. Some are the national special schools and some are residential special schools. 

All special schools will expect a pupil to have an EHC Plan. All schools will need to agree that they can meet the needs set out in the EHC Plan in order to accept a pupil from West Northamptonshire. 

Independent (private) specialist places will be only by arrangement with the local authority's education services. 

Independent (private) schools will be self-funded and are listed elsewhere.

Ducklings: Email: [email protected] is a pre-school group for children with additional needs, which runs every Monday between 9:45 am and 11:15 am during the school term at Kingsley Special Academy. This session offers parents and carers the chance to stay with their child and enjoy the use of the sensory studio with a variety of toys and activities.

Maplefields Academy is a mixed all-through special school that caters for pupils aged 3-19 years. It is run as a single-academy trust. Maplefields Academy is for pupils whose primary needs are: Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) Needs. 

Maplefields Training and Development is part of Maplefields Academy in Corby. They work with the Northamptonshire Teaching School Hub. It provides school-based initial teacher training (ITT) the early career framework (ECF) and the new specialist NPQs. They provide school-to-school support, which forms a separate arm of the DfE, a tailored behaviour outreach, high quality training and development and an ITT programme as the lead school in partnership with Sharnbrook Academy Federation.
