Together Trust - Northamptonshire Sleep Service logo

Description

The Northamptonshire Sleep Service is delivered by the Together Trust. It provides specialist one-to-one sleep clinics for parents of children and young people aged 2-18 years who are experiencing sleep difficulties. Its sleep practitioners work with families to create a personalised sleep plan for the child or young person so everyone can get a good night’s sleep. The Together Trust also has lots of information and advice on its website to support families.

In order to access the Sleep Service, the following criteria apply:

  • Children and young people must be aged between 2-18 years
  • The child or young person has special education needs or disabilities (SEND) or has a diagnosis of autism or ADHD
  • Families must be registered with a Northamptonshire GP or be a resident of Northamptonshire

Referrals will only be accepted from professionals working in the health/education/local authority sectors.

Parent/carer referrals are not accepted for this service.

Take a look at the section below on how the appointment system works. Clinics book up quickly, so families may be invited to join a waiting list for an appointment.

If you’re a parent or carer living in Northamptonshire, look at the section below on how the service works. Families will be contacted once a referral has been accepted.  While waiting, please look at the tips and strategies on the website.

Who can book an appointment?

Only professionals working in the health/education/local authority sectors can make a referral.  If English is an additional language, Together Trust may be able to offer a translation service.

Where and when do appointments take place?

Clinic appointments take place throughout the year.  Appointments take place via video consultation or by phone.

How do I book an appointment?

Referrals will only be accepted if they're made by professionals working in the health/education/local authority sectors.  Parent/carer referrals are not accepted for this service.

If you are a parent or carer, please speak to your relevant health/education/local authority professional.

How long do appointments last?

Appointments last up to one hour.

Does the child or young person need to attend the appointment?

No, families don’t need to bring the child or young person to the appointment. However, they can do so if they wish for older children to be involved in the design of their sleep plan. Sleep practitioners work with families to discuss the child or young person’s needs and habits. They create a personalised sleep plan to be taken away.

What happens during/after an appointment?

At the appointment, the sleep practitioner will look at some factors that can affect sleep. They will consider strategies that can help children or young people sleep well.  Following the appointment, families will be given a personalised sleep programme for their child or young person. Together Trust will arrange follow-up appointments to discuss how things are progressing.
