Get help for your child's learning needs

Children learning in a classroom

If you are worried about your child's learning, you should start by speaking to their teacher or preschool leader.

Most children and young people with special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND) make progress with the help schools and educational settings can give from the resources they already have.

If you feel your child may need extra help, you can find out about getting help for your child's learning needs.

Services for children with special educational needs and disabilities

Some families know before their child is born that the baby is going to have a disability of some kind.

For other families, their child's special educational needs become known when assessments happen. Some children will cope when they are younger but will need more help as they get older.

Parents from Northamptonshire Parent Forum Group, Northamptonshire Down’s Syndrome Group and Sends4Dads have helped the Local Offer team compile information for parents.
