Helpful information for carers
Northamptonshire Carers
Northamptonshire Carers will develop a crisis plan with you as part of a Carer's Assessment.
For carers in crisis, visit the Northamptonshire Carers website.
Planning for an emergency
When planning for an emergency carers assessment, you need to collect important details about the person you look after. This includes their medical needs, daily routines, any risks, and emergency contact information. This helps make sure that if you can't care for them suddenly, other arrangements can be made quickly.
Social services or other care providers can help with this. It is also a good idea to find family or friends who can step in during an emergency.
Breaks for carers
A carer's break (or respite care) can give you a break from your caring role.
Find out more about carers' breaks on the Northamptonshire Carers website.
The Herbert Protocol
The Herbert Protocol is a form that carers, family or friends of a vulnerable person, or the person themselves can fill in in case a person goes missing.
Find out more about The Herbert Protocol on the Northamptonshire Police website - this site includes a video explaining the protocol and the form to download for free.
