Filming locations
Northamptonshire is home to many unique locations, from the highest concentration of stately homes in England to sweeping countryside and gritty urban backdrops.
We work closely with Creative England’s Filming in England Team to facilitate productions and strive to help production companies wherever we can.
Creative England have launched online databases to showcase the assets, crew and suppliers we have on offer:
Northamptonshire's showreel
Saltburn
The Grade I listed country house in North Northamptonshire recently played home to the eccentric Catton family in the acclaimed 2023 black comedy thriller Saltburn, directed by Emerald Fennell and starring Barry Keoghan, Rosamund Pike, Richard E. Grant and Jacob Elordi.
Kingsman: The Golden Circle/Another Country

Marek Kanievska’s Another Country, also starring Colin Firth alongside Rupert Everett.
Napoleon/Les Miserables
Boughton House near Kettering is a popular destination for filmmakers, with Ridley Scott (Napoleon, starring Joaquin Phoenix), and Tom Hooper (Les Miserables, starring Hugh Jackman, Russell Crowe and Anne Hathaway) seeing value in its grandeur.
Men in Black International
F Gary Gray’s Men in Black International, also starring Chris Hemsworth alongside an all-star cast including Liam Neeson and Tessa Thompson.
Rush
Rush, Ron Howard’s epic drama about the rivalry between Formula 1 legends James Hunt and Niki Lauda, starring Chris Hemsworth and Daniel Brühl.
Upcoming Formula One movie
In summer 2023, Brad Pitt and co-star Damson Idris were at Silverstone race circuit, filming for Joseph Kosinski’s as yet untitled Apple TV Formula One movie.
Kinky Boots
Perhaps unsurprisingly, as it’s based on the story of Northamptonshire shoemaker Steve Pateman, Julian Jarrold’s feelgood hit Kinky Boots filmed at a number of locations in the county, mostly at the Tricker’s Factory in Northampton.
Could your film be next?
We’re always keen to discuss the viability of location filming for film and TV, documentaries, commercials, and all other types of production. See filming location guidance for information on how to apply for permission to film in Northamptonshire.
