Farthinghoe Recycling and Re-use Centre

Expect delays at HWRCs

Please note that the sites are very busy at the moment. Delays are likely.

This site:

  • can accept a wide range of items and materials for recycling and reuse
  • does not accept general rubbish
  • has a re-use shop where items that are saved from landfill and recycling are available

Opening times

The site is open 7 days a week from 10am to 4pm.

Bank holiday opening times

The site is open on bank holidays.

The site will be closed on Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Years Day, and will close at 2pm on Christmas Eve.

The recycling centre is on the A422 between Brackley and Banbury, about one mile west of Farthinghoe.

  • books
  • bric-a-brac
  • car batteries
  • cardboard
  • CDs
  • cooking oil
  • cookers
  • drink cartons
  • DVDs
  • electricals (broken or working)
  • exercise equipment
  • foil
  • fluorescent tubes
  • food and drink cans
  • fridges and freezers
  • furniture (must have a fire label, be stain free and in a good condition so that someone else can reuse). Soft furniture will only be accepted if deemed to have a resale value (this is at the discretion of site staff)
  • games and puzzles
  • glass bottles
  • green garden waste (grass, prunings, weeds)
  • mattresses (must have a fire label, be stain free and in a good condition so that someone else can reuse)
  • microwaves
  • ovens
  • paper
  • plastic pots, tubs and trays
  • rubble, bricks, slabs and tiles
  • scrap metal
  • soil
  • sports equipment
  • toilets and sinks
  • toys
  • textiles
  • tumble dryers

  • asbestos
  • baths
  • carpets
  • food waste
  • gas cylinders
  • general rubbish
  • hazardous waste
  • kitchen units
  • paint
  • plasterboard
  • polystyrene
  • pyrex
  • shower screens
  • video tapes
  • wood/timber

When using the centre:

  • wear protective gloves, appropriate footwear (no open toes), and clothing
  • only bring what you can handle or bring help for heavy items
  • be courteous; abusive behaviour towards staff and members of the public will not be tolerated
  • place all items in the correct containers
  • cooperate with staff and ask for assistance if needed
  • observe the site speed limit and one-way system; park in marked bays
  • keep children and animals inside your vehicle
