New Local Plan for West Northamptonshire
We are preparing a new local plan for the area to guide decisions in the period up to 2043.
The West Northamptonshire Local Plan will replace the West Northamptonshire Joint Core Strategy Local Plan (Part 1) and the Part 2 Local Plans which were adopted for the former Daventry, Northampton and South Northamptonshire areas.
Regulations 18 Consultation
Consultation on a Regulation 18 draft of the West Northamptonshire Local Plan ran from 29 January 2026 to 27 March 2026. The consultation documents are set out below and consultation responses, which will be published in due course, are currently being analysed.
These will be considered and reported and along with additional evidence will help shape the final version of the local plan which will be published at Regulation 19 in the Autumn prior to submission for examination by 31 December 2026.

Statement of Community Involvement (SCI) for the Local Plan
West Northamptonshire Council approved a new Statement of Community Involvement (SCI) for the Planning Service in November 2025. The SCI sets out how the council will engage stakeholders and the public in the carrying out of its planning function.
West Northamptonshire Local Development Scheme (LDS)
The latest LDS for West Northamptonshire was approved by the Planning Policy Committee and came into effect in January 2026.
The LDS sets out the timetable for the preparation of the West Northamptonshire Local Plan.
