New Local Plan for West Northamptonshire

We are preparing a new local plan for the area to guide decisions in the period up to 2043.

The West Northamptonshire Local Plan will replace the West Northamptonshire Joint Core Strategy Local Plan (Part 1) and the Part 2 Local Plans which were adopted for the former Daventry, Northampton and South Northamptonshire areas.

Regulations 18 Consultation - now closed

Consultation on the Regulation 18 Draft Local Plan took place from 29 January to 27 March 2026, alongside a programme of public events.

This consultation is now closed.

Alongside the Regulation 18 consultation, the Council also invited Local Green Space nominations and Call for Sites submissions, which also closed 27 March 2026.

We are currently analysing the feedback received and will use it to inform the next stage of plan making process.

As part of the Regulation 18 consultation, a programme of staffed public exhibitions took place across the area in February and March 2026. The materials presented at these events are available below for information and reference purposes only.

West Northamptonshire Council approved a new Statement of Community Involvement (SCI) for the Planning Service in November 2025. The SCI sets out how the council will engage stakeholders and the public in the carrying out of its planning function.

The latest LDS for West Northamptonshire was approved by the Planning Policy Committee and came into effect in January 2026.

The LDS sets out the timetable for the preparation of the West Northamptonshire Local Plan.
