Asked to leave home by family or friends

Most people who contact us for housing advice do so because they have been asked to leave by friends or family.

We understand this will be a really distressing time for you and you will be worried.

We can meet you, discuss your circumstances and help to explore any opportunities that make it possible for you to stay at home, even for a little while longer.

While this may not be an ideal solution, we can then help you to use this time to explore other housing options.

You can find more information about rights you may have and help available to you, on Shelter’s website.

Do you feel unsafe?

If you or someone you know are in danger and need immediate help, always call 999.

If you dial 999 but can't speak, press 55 when prompted by the operator. This is called the Silent Solution.

For non-emergencies, call 101.

Please find help, advice and support available to anyone experiencing domestic abuse, both from local and national services.
