Sexual health for children and young people (Easy Read)

There is sexual health information and support for children and young people.

This can help them navigate challenging times.

Some of the available local services are detailed below.

Sexual health advice lines

ChatHealth

ChatHealth has advice and support.

It is confidential.

You can talk to them about sexual health and contraception.

ChatHealth is for young people between 11 and 19 years.

Young people who have left school can use this service.

To use the service, text 07507 329600.

You will get a reply within 24 hours from an NHS School Nurse.

The service runs from Monday to Friday between 8:30am and 4:30pm.

It does not run on bank holidays.

National sexual health helpline

Call for free on 0300 123 7123.

You can call from Monday to Friday, between 9am and 8pm.

Your call will be treated with sensitivity and in strict confidence.

The LGBT+ Helpline

This service offers information, support and referral services.

It is for lesbians, gay men and bisexual people.

It is also for people who identify as trans (transgender, transsexual, transvestite).

It is free to call on 0800 0119 100 from 10am to 10pm every day.

Testing

Free STI self-testing kit

An STI testing kit and a text message with results

STI stands for sexually transmitted infection.

If you are aged 16 to 24 years, you are eligible for a free home STI testing kit.

It can be delivered to you by post.

You can get a free HIV self-testing kit.

It is delivered to your home by post.

Walk-in and bookable clinics

You can book an appointment with the Sexual Health Clinic.

There are also drop-in clinics for under 19s.
