Sustainability in your business

Within West Northamptonshire, we have two schemes currently available to help businesses reach Net Zero:

1) TANZ West Northants is a project in partnership with the University of Northampton to provide non-financial aid for businesses in West Northants to transition to Net Zero

2) Net Zero West Northants is a programme providing grants to businesses in West Northants supporting their transition to Net Zero

Further business support

Support is available locally through the Sustainability Local Innovation Partnership Hub (SLIPAH) where you can also find out about joining the Northampton Sustainability Accord.

Groundwork Northamptonshire offers consultations and assistance in making your business a sustainable one.

There are many other ways to make your business more sustainable:

Your staff can donate time and support within the local community cultivating sustainable practices. This could be through education or practical tasks like planting trees and community gardens.

Terracycle enables your workplace to be a space others can use to recycle otherwise difficult objects.

You can also encourage employees to use public transport or share lifts.

If you are a business with surplus food, consider joining Too Good to Go. They help you find new customers and saves food from being wasted, you can also donate surplus food to local food banks and food pantries/larders.

This can assist you in measuring and reducing your emissions/waste/energy usage.

Rather than purchasing new tech, you can have your older versions updated and fixed or buy technology such as laptops directly from the company that have been returned and refurbished in house.

Try to find local and ethical suppliers that can help you adapt your packaging to be reusable or recyclable.

Even the internet has a carbon footprint and produces a massive amount of greenhouse gases. You could help reduce this.

Our Paid Load Service will get rid of larger recyclable waste from your office. For more information on ways to deal with commercial waste see our Business or Commercial waste services.
