There are many organisations and services that can help you when experiencing financial pressure and offer support in other areas of your wellbeing.

If you are worried about paying your rent or mortgage, you can contact our Debt and Money Advice Team.

If you are a Housing Association tenant and are struggling to pay your rent, please contact your Housing Association landlord first as they all have money advice teams that can help you.

There is a lot of information about local sources of support and help available on our cost of living support pages. This includes help with food, bills and staying warm, if you are struggling financially.

  • Change Grow Live: Substance to Solution - free and confidential support and treatment for adults experiencing difficulties with drugs and alcohol.
  • Bridge - substance misuse mentoring programme of physical and other activities to its members - based in Northampton but covering all of Northants.
  • Street Outreach Team - this team provides support to homeless individuals, including those who are struggling with substance misuse. They can connect you with addiction recovery programs and relevant services. Reports of people through StreetLink within West Northants come through to our Outreach team.
  • NGAGE with Aquarius - a drug and alcohol service for young people aged from 10 to 25 in Northamptonshire. This is a free and confidential service focusing on early intervention, structured support and aftercare.

If you are struggling with buying food, find your nearest food bank using our community and voluntary organisations directory.

  • Shelter - practical and legal advice on your housing situation.
  • Accommodation Concern - commissioned to provide housing, benefit and debt advice services for people accessing mental health services throughout Northamptonshire.
  • Community Law Service - offers a free, confidential and independent housing advice service aimed at improving the health and well-being of local residents by tackling social and financial exclusion. They also offer debt management, welfare benefits and energy advice.
  • Citizens Advice - provides free, confidential housing advice on issues such as renting, eviction, homelessness, and council tax. Their services aim to help individuals understand their rights, resolve housing problems, and maintain stable living conditions.

The Northampton Hope Centre offers comprehensive day services to support individuals experiencing homelessness and hardship.

  • Northamptonshire Mental Health Services (NHFT) - provides mental health support and services for people facing homelessness or housing difficulties
  • Mind (Northamptonshire) - offers mental health support and has specific programs for those experiencing homelessness or housing instability for over 18s
  • Time2Talk - free, confidential counselling and emotional support services for young people aged from 13 to 25, focusing on mental well-being and crisis intervention. They provide a safe space to discuss personal issues and access various resources
  • The Lowdown - a Mental Health Charity, providing free and confidential support services for 11 to 25 year olds in Northamptonshire.
